Jesus is special because Jesus is God’s Son. Christmas is special because that is when we celebrate God giving us Jesus to be our friend forever. It’s a wonderful time to say, “Happy birthday, Jesus!” and celebrate all that God has done for us.

God’s compassion for the people He created led to the greatest act of love the world has ever seen. God sent His only Son to make us right with Him. We reflect that compassion when we care about others and show them how much God loves them.

Hurricane Michael Relief: Long-Term relief efforts for our neighbors in the East are our highest calling right now. We were built for such a time as this. We are thinking and praying through the ‘next phase’ of our plans, as we asses the situation on the ground. But if past is precedent God will continually provide us with meaningful ways to engage with our brothers and sisters. You can look forward to more trips, more focus on rebuilding, more support of our church partners, and a whole lot more Spirit inspired “God Moments.”

Thanks to your generosity, all of our stars have been selected from the Star Tree. If you wish to participate in the Star Tree effort (gifts for church kids and hurricane victims), you are welcome to drop stocking stuffer items in the boxes in our Kids Lobby by December 20.

Hurricane Relief

The Long Haul Continues:
Here we are looking at the year end, with 9 organized trips under our belt and a steady, thoughtful, prayerful focus on being long-term partners to our friends in the East. Crosspoint has absolutely knocked it out of the park in the way we have responded to this storm – YOU have knocked it out of the park. Emails, plans, and opportunities to give mean nothing without the people of the church stepping up and being the church.

We are succeeding because of you – No Coal for any of you this year!

Story Of The Week – Welcoming Partners:
First of all, we had a team of folks show up on a day that we all knew was going to be wet and miserable. I am sure none of them were surprised when they had to stop the day’s work because of a tornado warning. But they were still out there! That’s a perfect metaphor for how you, the church, have responded. You keep showing up, because you sense (as I do) that we are called to this!

You probably remember that last Saturday was our first week with Samaritan’s Purse. The big news is that the closer we look at the operations of Samaritan’s Purse, the more confident we feel that they are the right partners to help us with the ‘trips’ portion of our response. Starting in January we will be taking consistent trips for (at least) three months in partnership with Samaritan’s Purse.

Hurricane Michael Relief Efforts will be part of our #AfricaAdvent offerings this year. Relief will be the focus on starting with weekend worship on December 15-16. Keep your eyes on the missions website, this email, and the Crosspoint Missions Facebook feed for information on next year’s trips plan as well as tons of info on all of our Africa Advent Projects (Bikes, Bibles, and Church Buildings in and around the Congo, Ministry to street kids in Zambia, and Hurricane Relief).

Saturday, December 15:
Every week’s trip is wrapped in chaos, and each project is always approaching like a freight train. This week we had a lot of major developments in regards to our “Toy Distribution Week Plans.” Both the Niceville and Crestview parades are not scheduled for December 15, we gained two partners but lost our best lead for a Christmas Store (all in the last 48 hours).

Here is what I can tell you with absolute confidence. We have multiple ways we could distribute our toys to folks affected by the hurricane. All of which are through partners we know and trust.

Here is what I won’t be able to tell you (at least for the a few more days)- what role you…our ‘general public’ of volunteers…will play in that distribution. We are ironing out all of the ‘when, how, and who’ of toy distribution right now! And in that way, this trip is a perfect cap to our phase II response!

God bless you all, and thanks for staying on board long-term!
